Who: iLa MaWana and Bearquarium
When: February 3rd, 2011
Where: Club Metronome, Burlington, VT

Coming back to Vermont for their second time, Boston’s iLa MaWana is stoked to be playing alongside Burlington’s own Bearquarium. Both bands are playing Club Metronome, the dance spot above Nectar’s Restaurant.

In July 2010, iLa Mawana self-released Soldiers of Sound and was soon named Unsigned Band of the Week by High Times Magazine. Six months later, after a few months off the grid, writing tunes and rehearsing, iLa Mawana’s, “Live shows are getting stronger,” according to guitarist Dave Rosen. “And we've all been preparing ourselves to tour full time, for the first time, in 2011.” With new drummer Elliot Jacobs and bass player Greg Toro, iLa Mawana has a much-to-offer new foundation for their roots sound.

On top of that, Bearquarium will be providing a different, but equally powerful sound. “We're very different bands musically,” says Dave, “but our fans seem to love them and vice versa, so the lineup works out well: there's never too much of one genre.”

So, for a night of afrobeat/funk/reggae/jam/good vibes that doesn’t get old, check out the two groups on February 3rd at Club Metronome. Also, keep an eye on iLa Mawana as they gear up for a two-month east coast tour, featuring shows on the Florida Expendables Winter Blackout Tour, as well as several Northeast mountain festivals.
